Brookline for Racial Justice & Equity (BRJE) is a local nonprofit dedicated to eliminating racism and advancing access, equity, and inclusion for communities of color in Brookline.
 
Racial Justice Candidate Forum on Monday, April 7, from 6:00–8:00 p.m. at Brookline Town Hall. We're inviting candidates for the Select Board and School Committee to share their personal experiences, articulate their policy positions, and provide concrete solutions to advance racial equity in Brookline.


We're also inviting attendees to help shape our questions by submitting your own. What topics should we cover and what should we ask? Submit your questions here.

March is Self-Injury Awareness Month

Self-injury is more common than people realize, affecting individuals of all ages and backgrounds. That includes adolescents here in Brookline, who often secretly self-harm as a coping mechanism for emotional pain, stress, or feelings of numbness. It is not just a phase or attention-seeking behavior but a real problem for many. In recognition of March as Self-Injury Awareness Month, B-PEN’s Mental Health page offers helpful self-harm resources if you know or suspect someone may be struggling.

SMARTSUMMERS THEATER ARTS PROGRAM

This performance program offers young entertainers (ages 5-13) a chance to explore the world of theater. Each session, we’ll team up with professional artists in engaging acting, music, dance, and art classes to create original musicals based on popular children's stories. Students will learn dialogue and choreography and help create scripts, sets, and musical numbers. Throughout the days we will also include humorous interludes of reader's theater, improv, crazy choreography, outlandish script writing, and hidden talent hour. Our classes will take place both indoors and outside, and we'll be sure to include downtime recess games and relaxation time. Each session will culminate with an original musical. This summer, our original productions will be based on magical transformations and fairy tales such as Aladdin, Beauty & the Beast, & Cinderella.

Event for Rising 9th Grade Parents/Guardians at 22 Tappan

On March 11, the BHS Innovation Fund will host a panel of BHS students and teachers for parents of 8th graders at the 22 Tappan Building. Here's the link to the flyer with details and the link to register is here.  Parents will have an opportunity to meet Anthony Meyer and to hear from students and teachers from classes like Experiential Physics, which all 9th graders take.  Attendees will also learn about the engineering and culinary pathways, and about support programs like the African American and Latino Scholars, Tutorial, and SELT (Social Emotional Learning Tutorial).  Questions? Youth Soccer Clinic with Boston University Athletes

An exciting opportunity at Athlinics for the soccer boys and girls of Hayes PTO Brookline. 

On Saturday, March 29st, from 5:00 pm- 8:00 pm, we are holding our Boston University Soccer Clinic!

Open to both boys and girls, the event will feature Boston University Men's and Women’s Soccer players —Daniel Kim, Eileen Soloman, among others — who will lead a skills training session and team play, concluding with a panel to speak with the players about student-athlete life at the Division I level. This event will take place at Bosse Sports, 1 Westinghouse Plaza Building Building G, Boston, MA 02136

Girls Learn to Play Hockey

Brookline Youth Hockey is excited to be selected as a host for the Bruins Academy Girls Learn to Play hockey program. This is an amazing program where new ice hockey players ages 5-10 get an introduction to the sport through 4 lessons with all equipment included and yours to keep. Basic skating skills are recommended.
