Brookline Recreation will be hosting our 2026 Water Safety Day at the Evelyn Kirrane Aquatics Center on Sunday, May 17th (from 10am-1pm).  This is a FREE community event.

May is National Water Safety awareness month. The goal of this event is to educate our community on water safety and how to stay safe in and around the water. Drowning is the second leading cause of unintentional injury or death ages 5-14 in the United States (following motor vehicle crashes). Drowning is the leading cause of accidental death for children ages 1–4 in the United States.

We aim to educate families on these statistics while providing practical tools to help keep their children safe especially as we enter the summer months.

This year, one of our event goals is to expand the event’s reach by engaging more members of the Brookline and surrounding communities. We hope to continue growing Water Safety Day into a staple community event.
